BBC Cymru Wales

The BBC launched a Welsh television service in 1964.
It was always difficult trying to please both Welsh speakers and non Welsh speakers
so this new service tried to solve the problem.

When S4C was launched as the Welsh fourth channel in 1982,
it at last became possible for Welsh speakers
to enjoy programmes in the Welsh language during peak viewing hours.
